RE-CYCLE
In the short time since plastic entered our lives, it has become an integral part of our world. Plastic is one of the materials that has raised our standard of living.
But this abundance has a price.
I was educated to believe that everything has value. Even what is considered waste – another use can be found for it. This project deals with sustainability and material recycling – new possibilities of connecting, wrapping, and coloring ceramics through the reuse of material residues, mainly plastic.
This project deals with ideas I have about the world and myself; perceptions of freedom, of choice, and of complexity; thoughts about the path I forge, each time reinventing myself - like the ability of clay to be continuously recyclable.
Through ceramic objects, plastic, and mixed techniques, color and size, there is an attempt to take over the space and create in the viewer a sense of wonder about scale and power relations in relation to the work.
Work Dimensions: Beads - 45 cm diameter | Pipes - Sizes vary between 1.5-3 meters
Materials and Techniques: Clay - Wheel-thrown, coils, molds | Plastic - Knitting, cutting and melting | Recycled materials - Clay, boxes, plastic bags.
